Children’s stories are the best. We don’t mean stories for children — we mean stories FROM children. Kids concoct the most unusual stories based solely on what they see. Every child’s story is like an Aboriginal Dreamtime tale – no messages, no morals, sometimes no logic at all, just astoundingly creative explanations for how things came to be.
These Rory Story Cubes are like modern myth generators. They’re targeted at ages 8-12, but we think that adults can help younger kids too. As kids get a good grasp of grammar, they also learn real and unreal, and their imagination explodes. These story cubes are a perfect way to engage their exploding imaginations and encourage creative thinking.
The premise is simple: nine die with six pictures each. Roll the die and tell a story using the nine pictures. Tell a story by yourself. Tell a story by taking turns. Make up story-telling challenges. They’re the perfect children’s toy: simple, easy to use, infinite possibilities.

I am a school teacher always looking for something new and exciting to reach my 4th graders. I find it difficult to keep their interest in reading. The story cubes have changed that for my class. We break into teams to play and I let the kids lead. They cubes encourage creativity and teamwork. My kids are between 8 and 9 years old have no difficulty deciphering the pictures. When they are unsure of something they use their dictionaries but that doesn’t happen often. I would recommend these for any family with school aged children!!
I can’t begin to say enough about these story cubes. As a single mom, I am always searching for quality time with my kids that doesn’t involve a DVD or television show. My daughters teacher told me about these story cubes and then bought them for us. We curled up on living room floor and laughed the entire time we played. My kids were so creative and it encouraged them to work as a team which never happens in my house! My kids are 7 & 10……….and I would recommend these story cubes to promote family time!
Bed time stories are like traditions in every household. The parents usually do make up stories for their kids. But this Rory’s Story Cubes creates an entirely different picture. Children also wanted their own stories to be heard and this game cubes will help them. By just a simple roll of the dies, children can come up with a lot of interesting stories worth taking. If you wanted to spend wisely your family time, make it a habit to let your children contribute in to it. This is a simple take turn game that will surely inspire parents to spend more time with their own children.
